People are places
When Jim Boyle asked me why my e-mail was the name of my neighbourhood back in Spain (Patraix), I said, "people are places".
This has developed in my mind in many directions. Jim is a certainly himself a place. For me, he is where the person that I was (when we first met) still lives. He is somewhere I like to visit. A living room in cold London where wit and warm silence take turns in conversation.

Cuando Jim Boyle me preguntó por qué mi correo electrónico era el nombre de mi antiguo barrio en España (Patraix), le dije: -Las personas somos lugares.
Esto se ha ido desarrollando en mi mente, en muchas direcciones. Jim es ciertamente un lugar. Para mí, él es donde la persona que yo era (cuando nos conocimos) todavía vive. Y él es un lugar que me gusta visitar. Una sala de estar en el frío Londres donde el ingenio y el cálido silencio se turnan en conversación.

I know Lou Reed was a lot more than his work as dynamite man in la Velvet Underground. I hope he makes music wherever he is.

Ya sé que Lou Reed era mucho más que su trabajo como dinamitero en la Velvet Underground. Espero que siga haciendo música allá donde esté.

It is cool to appear where one does not expect it.

We got a very exciting review of the firs issue of our new magazine, Polen, in the cultural website AU, Agenda Urbana:

"Carlos Maiques and a team of inveterate creators, linked to illustration, literary fiction, comic and other media, have arrived to polinize us, thus changing the world, by changing their readers from within. Polen is the imprint with which they may reach their goal. Polen is a new magazine emerging in Valencia, which opens up a space for serial comics and a torrent of creativity in black and white. This all brings us back to Carlos Maiques, an author going through a complete creative bloom. He is part of a team of barely known authors (and there is the fun anecdote of them being family), displaying an extremely high narrative, aesthetic level; a team that is compact and coherent."

Dublin Zine Fair - August 11 and 12th

Come to the Dublin Zine Fair next weekend (August 11-12th, 2012),
at the mysterious Supafast Building off Capel Street.
We will be there 12-6pm on Sunday, selling and buying comics, the brand new SLOW 4 will be for sale there, as well as other new comics by this dinosaur.


Ven a la Dublin Zine Fair el fin de semana que viene (11 y 12 de Agosto 2012),
al misterioso Supafast Building al lado de Capel Street.
Allí estaremos el domingo de 12 a 6pm, vendiendo y comprando cómics, el último SLOW 4 estará a la venta, así como otros cómics nuevos de este dinosaurio.
